Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 August 2026

De Beers Association Football Club ("De Beers AFC", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect when you visit debeersafc.com or interact with us as a player or member.

1. Information we collect

Website visitors: With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 and Amplitude to understand how visitors use our site. These tools collect information such as your approximate location (country and city), device type, browser, pages viewed, links and buttons clicked, and time spent on the site. We use this in aggregate to improve the site and to report engagement to our sponsors (for example, how often their logos are seen and clicked). We do not ask general visitors for a name, email address, or other identifying details.

Members and players: When you register to play or enquire about joining the club, we collect the information you provide on the application form (name, ID/passport, date of birth, contact details, parent/guardian details for minors, and SAFA-required documents). This information is used solely for club registration, team selection, SAFA affiliation, and communication.

2. Cookies and consent

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept analytics cookies. No analytics or tracking cookies are set until you click "Accept". If you decline, the analytics tools are never loaded. The site works fully either way.

If you accept, Google Analytics and Amplitude place cookies in your browser to recognise repeat visits and measure usage. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's cookies and data in your browser, which brings the consent banner back on your next visit. You can also block cookies entirely in your browser settings.

3. How we use the information

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share registration details only with SAFA and the leagues we are affiliated to, as required for player registration. Website usage data is processed on our behalf by Google and Amplitude under their respective privacy terms. These providers are based in the United States and may process data outside South Africa, in line with POPIA and their own safeguards for international transfers. We share only aggregated, non-identifying engagement statistics with our sponsors, never your personal details. Our site also links to sponsor, partner, and league websites; we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.

5. Data retention

Member and player records are retained for as long as required by SAFA and South African law. Analytics data is retained according to the default settings of our analytics providers.

6. Your rights (POPIA)

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to access it, to request correction or deletion (subject to SAFA and legal retention requirements), to object to processing, and to withdraw analytics consent at any time (see section 2). Email admin@debeersafc.co.za to make a request.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za (enquiries@inforegulator.org.za or POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za).

7. Children's information

Many of our players are under 18. Junior application forms must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
